Serving Others

Scripture tell us that we are to serve those who are under duress in our society. Through discernment, St. Matthias has concentrated on two areas we are skilled to address - Literacy and Homelessness.

The offices of Hebron House of Hospitality are co-located with our church offices. Hebron House operates three shelters and provides case-managed care to help individuals and families overcome their homelessness.  We provide space, resources, and personnel to further the mission of Hebron House.

St. Matthias is in the process of working with Hebron House on a program to promote literacy among homeless children.  Based on the work we did in our Books and Cooks program for several years, our literacy volunteers seek to extend the joy of reading to children who often are behind in their reading skills.

St. Matthias also helps serve meals at the Hope Center, gathers food for the Food Pantry of Waukesha County, and promotes the work of many other non-profits in Waukesha County.
