You are Welcome at St. Matthias!
St.
Matthias is an active, vibrant congregation in the Episcopal
Diocese of Milwaukee. Our mission is to serve the world in the name of
Christ through worship, outreach, fellowship and education. Our special ministry
over the last year has been addressing the problem of homelessness through
the Waukesha County Temporary Overflow shelter. We offer Christian educational
opportunities for children, youth and adults.
Our services reflect the beauty and joy of the Episcopal tradition, which has its roots in the services of the Church of England. All are welcome to worship with us and all baptized Christians may receive communion. We have an active and excellent choral program.
St. Matthias was founded in 1844 by the missionary James Lloyd Breck, who is commemorated as a saint by the Episcopal Church. The church building was finished in 1853 and consecrated in 1855. The Lady Chapel was added in 1887.
I invite you and welcome you to St. Matthias Church whether you are just visiting or searching for a church home. Join us for worship on Saturdays at 5 p.m., on Sundays at 8 a.m. or (during the summer) at 9:30 a.m. (and during the school year) at 10:15 a.m. God bless you.
Fr. David Simmons+
