Adult Christian Education
Interim Rector Sunday Forums discuss the appointed lessons and contemporary topics of interest.
The Interim Rector’s Forum provides a topical conversation about the day’s lectionary reading every Sunday between services. Guest speakers inform us about ongoing projects and special subjects.
The Adult Formation group addresses issues of interest ranging from biblical topics to social ethics and social issues.
Inquirers’ Classes and Lenten Programs grow us in the knowledge and love of the Lord.
For our Lent program, the parish provides “Soup and Substance” to participants. Members of the parish provide a delicious but light supper, followed by discussion on a variety of scheduled topics. In 2007, we focused on ecumenism and learned more about Judaism and Islam. In 2006, we examined the Episcopalian faith in greater depth.
A Thursday Morning Bible Study meets every week in the library. This group enjoys a lively, passionate discussion of scripture readings and their applications to our daily lives. Most recent topics have included Matthew and Corinthians.
Our Adult Faith program is currently based on The Thoughtful Christian. Leaders proved guidance for a one-to-two week session on contemporary, spiritual or scriptural issues. We have exchanged views on evolution and stem cell research, delved into when the Bible was written and why, studied prayer and spirituality, and even screened films and learned how they reflect a Christian ethos.
Our Library is available to all parish members. Our resources include Bible commentary, current issues, and history of the church, reflections on other faiths, magazines, fiction, and especially a great selection of children’s literature. Members may sign books out at any time.
